TPG Spotlight: Meet Susan Greenwood

"On the first meeting with David, I was intrigued by the challenge and aligned with the values that I could feel matter to the growth of this company."

How did you get into your role today?

I am responsible for the internal Finance and Admin at The Poirier Group, a role that has grown significantly in my time here both in volume and complexity.

Fate must have been a factor in getting into my role at TPG several years ago. I was not looking for work at the time as I was just finishing up a role with a client that had been bought out and was considering retirement from my freelance work when TPG called me. I wasn’t aware that my resume was still out there. I did not have any experience with the consulting industry at the time but on the first meeting with David, I was intrigued by the challenge and aligned with the values that I could feel matter to the growth of this company

What have been some of the main things you have learned working with TPG and in your role?

I’ve learned what it is that consultants do. The only knowledge I had was of consultants going into a company and cutting headcount to save money.  I’ve learned that at TPG that is the last resort in helping our clients manage change, growth and improve performance. I have learned that there is so much more to what we do to help companies achieve success. We ultimately work side by side with our clients, making a welcome difference to their business.

What is your take on work/life balance?

That is an ever-present struggle, I’m in the sandwich generation where I am taking care of both my children and my elderly parents, but also at the time in my life where I can put my career in drive mode. I make time for my family by working part-time in the office and grow my career by being included daily activities of the business, enabled by my ability to work remotely. Technology has made this possible.  I commit to my well being by making exercise part of my daily routine and that certainly helps manage stress.

What has been your favourite part of working for TPG?

Working with a team of like-minded, value-driven people that I can call my friends and family not just co-workers has been my favourite part of working in this organization. There is truly a special feel to the atmosphere and environment I work in. Everyone works together to help each other and the business grow. This feeling gets passed on to our clients and makes me proud to be a part of it all.
