#GetReal about Mental Health

"Empathy. It’s the capacity we share as human beings to step into each other’s shoes. To understand where they’re coming from and what they’re feeling. To listen hard and refuse to judge. It’s also one way to reduce and resolve conflict." - CMHA Mental Health Week

Every May for the last 71 years, Canadians in communities, schools, workplaces and the House of Commons have rallied around CMHA Mental Health Week.

As we head into Mental Health Week, it is crucial to remember that mental health is a crucial part of wellness, at work, at home and beyond.

While navigating unpredictable ups, downs, and lulls in these tumultuous times, we’d like to invite you to take this time to consider your own mental wellbeing and empathize with those around you. #GetReal about how to help, and how to seek help— and know that you’re not alone. A wealth of resources and support are available to aid you on your mental health journey no matter where you live, or your financial position.

At TPG, we know that mental strain or distress cannot be removed from the workplace. Ignoring emotions does not resolve them, and we are dedicated to helping our team and our community manage all aspects of their health and find in us a community where they can thrive. To this end, beyond formal benefits and resources, we focus on building a workplace that centers psychological safety, encourage each member to lead with empathy and make sure that all team members can prioritize work-life balance.

Here are some resources our team has created or found helpful in the past. If you’re exploring ways to offer OR receive help, these can be useful starting points!
