Position Summary:

The Management Consultant- IT at The Poirier Group will be responsible for consulting clients by developing and designing client systems, software development, and data analytics. 

Job Location:

The Poirier Group serves clients across North America. This position includes a mix of client travel across client sites within Canada and the United States, working from home, and working in the office. The main office of The Poirier Group is located at 703 Evans Avenue Etobicoke, Ontario.

Responsibilities:

The IT Consultant at TPG is responsible for using their technical expertise to work with clients in order to meet business objectives and solve complex problems. Your contributions will include:

  • Consulting with clients to build, configure, and customize technical solutions aligned to clients’ requirements
  • Deep understanding of business strategy and ability to craft software/platform/infrastructure architecture plans to support business outcomes
  • Responsible for architectural solutions involving design and development of software solutions
  • Consult with key stakeholders to translate complex technology challenges and opportunities into meaningful business user stories
  • Responsible for building TPG’s internal information technology infrastructure
  • Mitigate/minimize risks by assessing, anticipating, planning, escalating, and taking action where necessary
  • Assess and develop project plans, manage against scope, timelines, resources, and budget allocation to ensure a return on investment is achieved successfully while exceeding client expectations
  • Work closely with the TPG team to identify further client opportunities and recommendations
  • Prepare subsequent proposals to deliver based upon need/client request
  • Be a culture carrier supporting and growing the firm’s values and culture.

 

Requirements

  • To qualify for a TN1 Visa, a Canadian Passport is mandatory as our work is predominately throughout North America. Due to the requirements of a TN1 Visa, candidates with a work permit or with a permanent resident status do not qualify
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software or Computer Engineering, or other relevant technology-focused degrees
  • Project experience with new and emerging technologies such as big data and cloud platforms, coupled with a development background
  • Deep understanding of data analytics and Power BI platforms
  • Solid technical foundation that include expertise in working with:
    • Data/Statistical Analysis and Modeling
    • Relational databases (SQL, MySQL, etc.)
    • Data Visualization Tools (Power BI, Tableau, etc.)
    • Programming Languages (Python, Java, C#, Javascript, VBA, R, .NET etc.)
    • Cloud Computing Services (AWS, Azure, etc.)
  • 5-7 years of relevant work experience as an IT Management Consultant or related role
  • Keen interest in staying up to date with innovative technologies and trends in the world of IT
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and is capable of multi-tasking/managing concurrent tasks and initiatives
  • Aptitude for sound decision making/priority management when working toward deadlines, in stressful, complex situations and/or multitasking in multi-team environments
  • Superior ability to prepare and deliver compelling presentations, proposals and reports that are accurate, error-free, and relevant

Utilizing your talents and experience in client-facing roles, you will deliver process improvement, business transformation, and operational strategy projects to our clients across a variety of industries including retail, manufacturing, business services, private equity and more. You will be a part of a team working on individual or, at times, multiple engagements. Each client engagement will be different, but all must deliver a high degree of impact to organizational strategies, performance, and employee engagement/performance.
